Take the chill out of winter with DIY Pelmets
So how do they work? In a nutshell, a pelmet prevents the warm air from inside the room coming into contact with the glass, and in doing so, greatly reduces any heat loss which may normally occur through the window. It also prevents the cold air from outside coming in. Win-win!
They’re usually made of plywood and are painted or covered in a fabric. You can even use the curtain fabric to match - just a little bit fancy. But we’ll leave all the detail to the experts. Check out the links below and get creative. But of course, if you’re after a cheaper/temporary option, attach a piece of plywood or corrugated plastic to the top of your curtain rail, or even just a scarf, out of sight behind the top of the curtain. It’ll do the trick!
