Help your tenants to be green too
So you’re a landlord who's committed to sustainability, but what about your tenants? If you’d like to encourage your tenants to do their bit for the environment, you could send them this sample letter, to get the conversation started:
Dear ,
As your landlord I’m committed to sustainability. Here are some of the things I’ve done/I will be doing soon to green the property:
- Installing insulation
- Replacing the downlights with low energy alternatives
- Installing curtains and pelmets
- Installing awnings on the north and west facing windows
- Changing the showerhead to a low flow one
- Fixing any dripping taps
- Puting flow restrictors or tap aerators on all taps
- Blocking the draughts
- Investing in a better heater
- Investing in solar hot water
- Putting in Clear Comfort double glazing
Please feel free to contact me if you’d like to discuss how we can further increase the sustainability of the property.
You can visit www.environmentvictoria.org.au/renters for ideas about living sustainably.
Yours Sincerely,
