Our goals
Our big vision is for every Victorian, all 5 million of us, to take part in safeguarding our environment and future.
It’s a big goal that’s for sure but together, we can achieve it. With you on our team, we can change laws and policies, making it easy for every person to do the right thing by our environment. And we can help people overcome barriers to sustainable living and find new ways to green up their personal life and tread more lightly on the earth.
Our 2014 goals
We also have some shorter-term (although no less ambitious) goals.
1. Victoria’s emissions are falling, and are on target to be at least 50 percent of 1990 levels by 2020
2. A Victorian coal-fired power station is replaced with clean energy and no new coal plants are built
3. Homes are being retrofitted for water and energy efficiency and are on target for 1 million homes to
be retrofitted by 2020
4. A price is put on greenhouse pollution in 2011
5. The Federal Government agrees to return enough water to save the Murray River
6. The state government delivers promised environmental flows to Victorian rivers and wetlands
7. Victoria’s Water Act provides equal protection of environmental water rights to consumptive rights
8. Political parties that aspire to lead the Victorian Government have environment and climate plans
for Victoria and make promises to safeguard our environment
