Rescue Our Rivers

This election year, let’s all make sure our rivers get a drink

While the Victorian state government is spending billions on water projects, our rivers are as thirsty and stressed as ever. And not just because of climate change. The simple truth is, we’re still taking out too much water, and not leaving enough in them to keep them healthy.

This is downright dangerous really, because Victoria’s rivers give us good, clean drinking water. They’re also were we go for holidays, and homes for our unique wildlife.

You’re already helping. By bucketing water to wash your car, installing dual flush toilets and taking shorter showers. But what’s the state government up to?

Well, they can do more to return water to our stressed rivers. And we’ve got a plan to secure enough water for our rivers which includes water buy-back, improvements to the Victorian Water Act, and support for irrigation communities to adapt to the drier conditions.

Sign our Pledge below to let Premier John Brumby and Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu know that you’re doing your bit to save water. And that now, you want them to make sure our rivers get a drink.

Rivers are the lifeblood of our communities. It’s time we gave them a drink.
