Unit 8: Our Water Footprints
Many of the foods we eat and materials we consume in use large amounts of water in their production. In fact, we use more water indirectly through the food we eat than we do directly through our taps. In this unit students learn about this water, known as embodied water, how much different products use and and how much they use in their own lives. They use graphs and numerical skills to help them understand embodied water use and how to read water meters, and they also engage in discussions about the pros and cons of changing our lifestyles and farming practices to address water issues.
