Bring Your Bills Day: Flemington residents to get help reducing their bills

Environment Victoria is pleased to be a partner in the Flemington Bring Your Bills Day, 14 February 2012 at the Flemington Community Centre.

The latest in a recent series of similar events across Melbourne's western suburbs organised by Footscray Community Legal Centre, this special day is aimed at helping public housing residents, or anyone local with a Concession card, to navigate the at-times confusing territory of electricity, gas, water and mobile phone bills.

With energy and water prices rising every year, this has become a hot topic for the public, including our Sustainable Living program participants.

Free legal advice and financial counselling will be provided by community legal advisors, energy and water ombudsmen, representatives from City West Water, Centrelink, Consumer Affairs Victoria and more.

Free sustainable living advice and tips to reduce household energy consumption will be provided by Environment Victoria. We will also be promoting Flemington Green and introducing some of our local environmental champions.

Environment Victoria was recently successful in receiving a Moonee Valley City Council Sustainable Environment Grant which we are using to provide 20 free home sustainability assessments for guests at Bring Your Bills Day. These assessments will include an hour of tailored advice for Flemington estate residents, plus free energy and water saving products. Residents can sign up on the day to win one of these assessments.

When: Tuesday 14 February 2012, 11am to 3pm

Where: Flemington Community Centre, 25 Mt Alexander Road Flemington

This event is hosted by Flemington Neighbourhood Renewal. For more details, see invitation here
