Mum, Sally Davis Says Yes to a Carbon Price
Thursday, 22 September 2011
Australian mums and families that want to have a voice in the climate change debate will be given the chance with a new advertising campaign and grassroots events launched by Say Yes Australia.
Mother of two Sally Davis who appears in the new advertisement with her youngest son Jimmi, aged two-and-a-half, says despite earlier concerns she had about the impact the carbon price would have on her family, but when she learnt more, she became supportive of the carbon price package.
"I realised that it's not actually a tax on my family," said Davis. "The 500 biggest polluting companies will have the pay for the right to pollute our skies, giving them a reason to clean up their act.
"I was sick of hearing from politicians and shock jocks that misrepresent the facts about climate change and try to scare Australians about the price on carbon. I wanted to get involved and have my say, not just for my sake but for the future of my kids.
