Call for water buybacks to revive our rivers
We need to give our rivers, wildlife and communities a fighting chance.
Communities along the Murray-Darling are warning that our rivers are on the verge of collapse. The federal government is 47.5 billion litres short of water recovery targets. This is water drained out from a river system that native fish, birdlife and our communities rely on.
The quickest, most efficient and economically responsible way to meet the overdue water recovery target is to purchase this water from willing sellers through an open and transparent tender process, focusing on the Northern Basin first.
Sign this petition asking water ministers to buy back more water to revive our rivers.
