Australia’s biggest climate polluter AGL want to burn coal in Victoria until 2048. But we stopped them in Westernport Bay – now it’s time to close AGL’s last remaining brown coal power station in the Latrobe Valley and shift Victoria to 100% clean energy by 2030.
Here’s our five point plan to do it:
1. Pressure Victoria’s coal power stations to bring forward their closure dates
2. Commission expert analysis to build awareness about our energy future
3. Build a state-wide alliance of local climate leaders
4. Make sure there is a community-driven and government-backed transition plan
5. Work with communities and government to get our grid 100%-renewables-ready
It’s not often the big polluters don’t get their way. But stopping AGL’s dangerous gas plan for Westernport Bay has shown that caring, determined people acting together is a force to be reckoned with.
Thank you so much for your support.
