Our Murray-Darling is in crisis – fish are dying in their millions and some towns have only a few weeks of foul-smelling water left.
With the spotlight on rivers and a federal election just months away, now is our best chance to push politicians to protect our precious rivers – before it’s too late.
Together, we’re calling on the Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten to:
- Give our rivers what they need: Immediately re-start water buybacks so our rivers get the water they need to support wildlife and communities, and revise the Basin Plan to account for the impacts of climate change.
- Restore trust and confidence in the process: Root out unlawful maladministration in the Murray-Darling Basin Authority and establish an independent watchdog to audit and enforce the Basin Plan.
- Recognise Aboriginal Water Rights: Sit down with Traditional Owners to negotiate the restoration of Aboriginal water rights and Aboriginal representation on the Board of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority.
Together, we can protect our precious Murray-Darling – our lifeblood. Thank you for your support.
