Our Murray-Darling is in crisis – fish are dying in their millions and some towns have only a few weeks of foul-smelling water left.

With the spotlight on rivers and a federal election just months away, now is our best chance to push politicians to protect our precious rivers – before it’s too late.

Together, we’re calling on the Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten to:

  1. Give our rivers what they need: Immediately re-start water buybacks so our rivers get the water they need to support wildlife and communities, and revise the Basin Plan to account for the impacts of climate change.
  2. Restore trust and confidence in the process: Root out unlawful maladministration in the Murray-Darling Basin Authority and establish an independent watchdog to audit and enforce the Basin Plan.
  3. Recognise Aboriginal Water Rights: Sit down with Traditional Owners to negotiate the restoration of Aboriginal water rights and Aboriginal representation on the Board of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority.

Together, we can protect our precious Murray-Darling – our lifeblood. Thank you for your support.
