Host an action: pin your MP down on climate targets

By March next year, Premier Andrews will set targets for cutting climate pollution over the next 10 years. It’s a huge decision that could catapult Victoria to a position of climate leadership right when we need it most.

Daniel Andrews needs to hear from his MPs that people all over Victoria are calling for strong climate targets. In the week of 9 December, people all over Victoria will show up outside their state MP’s office to find out whether or not they support strong climate targets.

Grab some friends or neighbours and head down to your MPs office to put them on the spot and ask:

Will they champion state climate targets in line with keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees?

Your drop-in can be as simple as printing out a sign, knocking on the door, asking the question and taking a photo out the front of the office.

Or it could be colourful and noisy to make a big spash! Bring your parents group and your prams, your neighbours from your street, or even your mates from the local CFA with your truck!

MP Meeting Briefer

This briefing paper is a support resource to give to your local MP when you meet with them.

It highlights the following key points:

  • It is vital that Victoria’s emission reduction targets for 2025 and 2030 are consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees.
  • Strong climate policy at the state level is critical.
  • Victoria is already reaping significant benefits from taking action to decarbonise our economy.
