Call your MP

Tell them attacking the climate and clean energy is not on!

This week the Victorian Coalition announced plans to scrap the Renewable Energy Target if they’re elected next year.

Next week Parliament’s upper house will decide whether or not to pass a new Victorian Climate Change Act – the Coalition has already voted against it in the lower house.

These actions are not only dangerous for our climate, but they are way out of touch with what Victorians actually want!

You can hold the Coalition accountable by calling your representative in the upper house.

Here are some suggestions for what you could say:

  • You are a voter in their electoral region
  • You are disappointed that the Coalition would scrap the Victorian renewable energy target (VRET)
    • The VRET fights climate change by reducing pollution in our electricity system and creates sustainable jobs and investment
  • You think the Coalition in Victoria’s upper house should vote to support the Climate Change Bill in Parliament next week
    • This Bill sets a target for zero climate pollution by 2050 and creates laws to embed better climate-focused decision making in government
  • Victorians are worried about global warming and don’t think the Coalition should sabotage the solution by attacking clean energy and voting against the Climate Change Bill.
