Victorian Gas Market – Demand Side Measures to Avoid Forecast Supply Shortfall

New research shows Victoria can reduce gas consumption by more than half in a decade, cutting climate pollution and rendering AGL’s plans to build a gas import terminal unnecessary.

This study demonstrates that the adoption of gas demand reduction measures, such as energy efficiency and fuel switching entirely eliminates the forecast shortfall, with the exception of 2028 which has a minor 6.5PJ modelled shortfall.
