Submission to the review of electricity and gas retail markets in Victoria

In November 2016 the Andrews Labor Government announced a bipartisan review into Victoria’s electricity and gas retail markets. This page details Environment Victoria’s submission to that review.

We argue that the key question facing energy market regulators and operators worldwide, and which should be the focus for this Review, is: “How can we drive a rapid transition to zero net emissions and 100% renewable energy, while ensuring secure, reliable and equitable access to affordable energy services for all?”

The submission below outlines Environment Victoria’s response to that question, in particular highlighting the significant and complementary contributions that efficiency and demand management can make to achieving these objectives.
