The development of Victoria’s Renewable Energy Roadmap is a critical process that will have long-lasting effects on reducing the pollution from Victoria’s electricity sector. We support efforts to rapidly boost renewable energy in the state, and are eager to see the Andrews Government position Victoria as a leader on climate change.
We submit that the initially mooted target of a minimum of 20% renewable energy by 2020 needs to be raised. Our calculations show that targets of 30% by 2020 and 50% by 2025 are achievable and should be considered a minimum level of ambition.
