A Toast to the Murray

A Conservation Alliance Event

The Conservation Alliance is delighted to invite you to an intimate evening celebrating the passing of the ‘Restoring Our Rivers’ Bill, the biggest win for the people, fauna and flora who call the Murray-Darling home in over a decade.

Join our sparkling MC Charlotte Nitschke, Conservation Council South Australia’s Water Campaigner, as she leads an uplifting conversation featuring some of Australia’s best rivers campaigners and activists:

  • Craig Wilkins, the new leader of the Conservation Alliance which brings together Conservation Councils from across the Basin
  • Gloria Jones, the first woman to be inducted into the National Seafood Industry Hall of Fame and the wife of the late Henry Jones who is remembered by many as ‘the man who saved the Murray’
  • Jono La Nauze, the highly respected campaigner who was pivotal in bringing the latest Bill across the line and in the creation of the original first Murray-Darling Basin Plan, including historic alliances between Traditional Owners and environment groups.

Join us for the inside story on how we are winning for people and nature, and how the people of South Australia are crucial to securing the future of this vast river system.

WHEN: 6 for 6:30 – 8:30 PM Thursday 7th March

WHERE: Inparilla, 161 Frome St, Adelaide

About us

The Murray-Darling Conservation Alliance is a national voice for the rivers, wetlands and wildlife of the Murray-Darling. Members include conservation groups in every Basin state – NSW, Vic, SA and QLD – representing half a million people in rural communities and east-coast cities. Each group has been advocating for the environment at a state level for more than 50 years. Together we have a shared vision for healthy inland rivers.
