If you care about worsening climate impacts, want to help drive changes locally but aren’t sure where to start, or need some help to take the leap, then this training is for you!

Together, we’ll learn new skills, connect with like-minded people and plan for the year ahead.

This event is for people who are interested in taking on an ongoing volunteer role in Environment Victoria’s Action Network. If you are completely new to Environment Victoria you are more than welcome to attend.

FAQ

I don’t know much about Environment Victoria, is this event for me?

This Summit is for people who are interested in taking on an ongoing volunteer role in Environment Victoria’s Action Network, and if you are new to Environment Victoria you are more than welcome to join us. We’ll be offering an online induction prior to the Summit in February so you can come along and find out more about the Action Network, meet other people and what to expect at the Summit

In particular we are looking for people who:

  • Can inspire and empower the people around you
  • Work collaboratively, by listening and embracing the skills of others
  • Are eager to learn campaigning and organising tools
  • Are caring, compassionate and inclusive
  • Have a good understanding of your local community, as well as broader environmental and political issues

In the Environment Victoria Action Network we value learning, so if you feel like you fit some but not all of the above, we encourage you to still register your interest.

Do I need to pay to attend?

No, Environment Victoria covers the food and accommodation costs of this event. Travel support is available if needed.

If there are barriers to you attending, such as needing to arrange childcare, please let us know by filling out the form on the registration page.

What will I get out of this training?

Across the 2 day training you will:

  • Meet like-minded people from across the state
  • Be a part of making plans for actions and events for the year ahead
  • Learn new skills to build power in your community, such as cross-cultural organising and telling stories that shift hearts and minds

I’ve already been to an Action Network Summit – why should I come to this one?

We try to make each Summit different to the last. The idea is that there is something for everyone, no matter if you’ve been involved with Environment Victoria for years or if this is your first event!

I’m a member of a different local climate or environment group – should I come?

This Summit is for people who are open to joining Environment Victoria as a volunteer and getting involved in our campaigns. If you are already involved in a local group and can imagine joining Environment Victoria activities, you are welcome to join.

By joining the Environment Victoria Action Network, you’ll be connected to a people-powered movement working to cut damaging climate pollution, transition to clean energy and protect our beautiful natural places.

There’s are plenty of ways you can get involved – no matter your skills, experience or location!

What are the details on accommodation, transport and catering?

These will be confirmed closer to the date.

What is expected of me if I become an Environment Victoria volunteer?

Each week will probably look very different! In one week, you may be chatting to your neighbours at market stalls or meeting your MP and in another you could be hosting events in your neighbourhood or painting a banner. By getting involved, you’ll meet new people, learn new skills, and make a difference in your community.

How much time you dedicate to Environment Victoria is up to you, some core volunteers give 3-10 hours a week, while others might volunteer 2 hours a month. There’s a role for everyone in the Action Network.

What exactly is the ‘Action Network’?

We know that people power is key to inspiring the action we need and holding our leaders to account. So we’re building a network of Victorians like you to bring together local communities across the state and take action. Find out more about the Action Network here >>

Can my kids attend?

In 2024, we offered an on-site child-minding service so parents could participate more easily in our events. It was a great success and something we will strive to offer in the future.
