Hazelwood mine fire breached Environmental Protection Act

Legal advice obtained by Environment Victoria suggests the Hazelwood mine fire almost certainly breached the state’s Environment Protection Act.

The advice, prepared by solicitors at Environmental Justice Australia, says that only legal action by the EPA could lead to a fine for the company and open the way for affected residents to claim compensation.
