This is an update to our original submission to the Department of Transport and Planning on the EES Draft Scoping Requirements for the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal (VRET), based on the new draft.
In this submission, we urge a comparison of the environmental impacts of alternative sites in terms of land reclamation and dredging, suggest that full emissions accounting (including blue carbon and greenhouse gas emissions) be employed and for the EES to include impacts of climate change–driven sea level rise. We also request improvements to consultation timeframes and increased transparency around the public engagement process. Read the submission below:
