Action Network - Ringwood Sustainability Fair

On 15 March, Environment Victoria volunteers hosted a stall at the Sustainability Fair 2026 at Central Ringwood Community Centre. We shared information on home electrification, highlighting the household benefits, payback periods, and ROI of transitioning to electric appliances.

Volunteers conducted surveys on Victorian electrification policies to gather insights into community perspectives. We heard from new immigrant communities about the significant challenges they face in finding reliable and suitable installers.

We also learned about the difficulties renters encounter when discussing electrification with landlords, who often view these upgrades as a financial loss despite available subsidies and the potential to increase a property’s net worth. Additionally, some community members expressed concerns regarding the proposed 2027 policies, noting a preference for personal choice and flexibility over mandatory requirements.

These insights may help us inform our campaign, develop resources and advise decision-makers on what Victorian communities really need. It was a great day, and we look forward to the next community stall. If you are interested in joining in, learn more and consider signing up to be a part of our Action Network.
