Victoria has the potential to be a leader on climate change, but right now we do not have legislative or policy instruments in place that are commensurate with the challenge at hand. Our Climate Change Act, in particular, is almost entirely ineffective.
If Victoria is going to be a leader on climate change, as the Andrews Government has repeatedly said we will be, our central piece of climate legislation needs to create a comprehensive framework that requires significant cuts to our carbon pollution and that requires clear, strategic planning for adapting to the impacts of climate change.
