For more than two years our community was driving bold, coordinated action. In the media, on the streets, in MP offices and online we've put gas on the political agenda.
Victoria is the most gas-reliant state in Australia, and most of it is burnt by households and businesses. In June 2025 we had a big win with the Victorian government announcing regulations that;
Burning methane gas in our homes is expensive, it’s bad for our health, and it’s terrible for our climate. That’s why our community had been pressuring MPs and speaking up.
For more than two years our community was driving bold, coordinated action. In the media, on the streets, in MP offices and online we’ve put gas on the political agenda.
We exposed just how polluting methane gas is in Victoria. Our volunteers in the Action Network had thousands of conversations across the state, which showed that 83% of Victorians want to get off gas. We compiled this into a report which was then hand-delivered by volunteers to their local MPs.
We held colourful ‘weeks of action’ to demonstrate community support for getting off gas, and as gas bills continued to rise, we commissioned in-depth research revealing just how much money Victorians waste on gas heating.
As momentum for policy change grew, our community created a tide of public submissions and policy input across key consultations, ensuring expert and community voices were impossible to ignore.
At Victorian Parliament our volunteers stood beside unions and welfare advocates to advocate for electrification, proving this campaign belongs to all of us.
Every message sent, or story shared has helped shift the tide.
